In The Beginning…
1798 – Land is purchased for a future university.
1813 – Jefferson Seminary is opened, offering classes for college and high school students.
1829 – Closed.
1837 – Louisville Medical Institute established.
1846 – Louisville Medical Institute is combined with Louisville Collegiate Institute and a newly created law school.

Something that I think we forget about UofL is that it is striving to become a premiere metropolitan research university. This means that science, research (and let's not forget athletics) are the first to receive funding. If only we could find a way to address/advertise that UofL is the only Kentucky institution that offers an MFA in performance, maybe we could get a little more dough?
